Power is too consuming that it would be dangerous for the skeptic to bear it.

A co-worker once told me that he would like to stay as rank and file that he would not like to assume the position of chief if ever an opportunity knocks on his door. Years later, he assumed as officer-in-charge when our incumbent chief filed an emergency leave which consequently turned out as a resignation. The OIC served as a weak leader, being used often by higher officials as medium for corruption. Right now, the OIC is leaving and another person is about to take his position. This person is not willing or afraid to take it. Will this person be just a clone of the predecessor?

Power is something for strong matured men. Fear is a weakness and power assumed by fear is evil and corrupting. A person who is not ready to assume power is not ready to accept responsibilities. A person who has doubts over his readiness endangers himself and the people whom he has power over.

Because for every superiority complex, there is an underlying inferiority complex. More rabid and voracious, unquenchable, uncompromising.

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi

Everything in the world is bound to pass. When I assumed powers half a year ago, I knew it was only temporary. Half-heartedly I took control. Armed with humility and ability to connect to the people around me, I was able to run an entire operation all by myself.

There are people who are always ready and confident to lead, and there are others who shines when the urgency requires them to.
