Education does not guarantee anyone of decency and propriety.
I received an email today, a forwarded one with a subject “Who owns a house like this?” The email came from my boss, an MBA graduate from a reputable school. I thought this is in relation to an article of the most expensive house featured in Yahoo News so I clicked the email to read it. From the first photo, I already knew that this is not about the Yahoo article. The house is European style. I continued to browse down the pictures until it revealed its owner.
“This Mansion is in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA and belongs to Senator Manny Villar of the PHILIPPINES”. My first impression is that, it is possible that the senator owns this because after all, he is one of the richest people in the country. However, reading further made me doubt the motive of the email originator. “While Filipinos starve, and die because of abject poverty ...and while Sen. Villar brags that he had poor beginnings and he had helped his poor countrymen over and over again... but look now.. He and his family live like this...his GREED kills his poverty stricken fellow Filipinos.”
The email obviously is a black propaganda against the senator whom we all know is running for the presidential seat. I could only guess who would likely be the culprit of this smear campaign but I will just keep it to myself because in the first place I do not have any evidence. However, it is very frustrating to see and note that people who I thought are dignified could tolerate such act and even participate in such a campaign. I guess elections in the Philippines get the evil out from any Filipino.

4 dialectics:
I am never a fan of Villar and you just gave me a great idea to blog next. Ahahaha.
Seriously, my guess is that people are suffering from the GMA nightmare. You know, a very rich president in a country that is quite, poor, is being frowned upon. Given a chance, I'd vote for Richard Gordon or Gilbert Teodoro, but you know how politics is in the cunt-try. I'd rather choose the lesser evil knowing there's hope that the candidate I'm rooting for remains an idealist than the one who is his closest rival.

this is not villar's home... please see the link
It's most probably some black prop, but I still don't like him.
I totally agree. Elections bring the worst out of our people.
It's very frustrating to think that the people are the ones VOTING in these elections, and yet they blame the politicians when it comes to certain issues like corruption and (in the case of Maguindanao) murder. It makes you realize that even though these politicians did something wrong, it is still OUR fault as voters for putting these criminals to power.
And these politicians... I swear, I feel like I'm watching some sort of telenovela because of their commercials. All they mention are the dramas they've gone through in life like poverty or the loss of their parents *ahemahem*.
I wish there would be like, compulsary lie-detecting tests for politicians who wish to run in elections. Then it would be the people who would ask the questions. That'll set these things straight.
