Being skeptical sometimes makes you more objective and rational.
The United States, the world’s super power faced its worst day on September 11, 2001 (09-11-01). Japan, one of the world's economic super power just faced its worst day on March 10, 2011 (03-10-11). Add the dates, it’s 12-21-12. This is the end of the Mayan calendar. The day the earth will end.
This is what I’ve read from my wall posted by a friend. I immediately replied. “Wrong. Japan’s ill-fated day happened on March 11, 2011, which means 03-11-11. Another thing, what happened in the US is man-made, Japan is natural. Where did you get this information?” I asked him. He just said he got it from the internet. He then added, “Let me delete it.”
What would happen if I am not that analytical and did not challenge his post? What if he did not delete it and some of my friends would repost it on their walls?
Sometimes, there is nothing wrong with being sceptical because it helps you to become more objective and rational in dealing with situations. As a result, you can also help others to be vigilant and become responsible.

"End of the Earth Postponed"
Same with the BBC Radioactive Messages last week. If I didn't check the source for information, I'd be as well, gullible as everyone else.
I do not believe in this prediction too. Anyway, your friend may be right sa date. Di ba Mayan Calendar ang basis niya and the Mayans were in South American.
lastly, pandagdag lang, Mayan never predicted the world to end.
the 2012 is a western world idea..
And to substantiate Dabo's postscript, the Mayan calendar merely ends on 2012, a simple outcome of their distinctive counting system. This only means that if the Mayans still exist as a civilization at present, they would simply revert back to year one after 2012, starting their calends anew. :)
This is what you get from mass hysteria, and the ensuing resultant mean-world syndrome paranoia people get from living lives dependent and subservient to media.
naalala ko tuloy to: http://www.anthroblogs.org/nomadicthoughts/archives/maya_cartoon.JPG
nagdebate kami ng teammate ko tungkol dito kanina. he said he watched this documentary or something that showed overwhelming evidence that the world will indeed end next year. prophecies, prophets and stuff. nakaka stress. paniwalang paniwala talaga siya.
@Anonymous. 2:46pm ng March 11, 2011 naganap ang lindol. kung nauuna tayon ng anim na oras (at most) sa mga bansa sa south america, di ba march 11 pa rin un at hindi march 10? :)
in this day when we are supposed to be more learned and more scientific, people tend to become more superstitious...bahala na si God sa akin. kung oras na, oras na.
